METALLICA, EVANESCENCE Among Winners At 46th Annual GRAMMY AWARDS
February 8, 2004METALLICA have won a Grammy in the "Best Metal Performance" category at the 46th annual Grammy Awards, which are being held tonight (Feb. 8) at the Staples Center in Los Angeles. METALLICA ("St. Anger") beat out such other "Metal" nominees as KORN ("Did My Time"),MARILYN MANSON ("mOBSCENE"),SPINESHANK ("Smothered") and STONE SOUR ("Inhale"). Also winning in the "Hard Rock Performance" category were EVANESCENCE ("Bring Me to Life"),who were chosen over such acts as AUDIOSLAVE ("Like a Stone"),GODSMACK ("Straight Out of Line"),JANE'S ADDICTION ("Just Because"),and QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE ("Go With the Flow"). EVANESCENCE also came out on top in the "Best New Artist" category, with singer Amy Lee and ex-EVANESCENCE guitarist Ben Moody making a surprising joint appearance to accept the award on live television.
